National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC registry)
TRAI has proposed for a National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC registry) containing list of telephone numbers of the subscribers who do not want to receive Unsolicited Commercial Communications (UCC). It includes SMS as well.
A Mobile or landline subscriber who does not wish to receive telemarketing calls, can request their telephone number be included in the NDNC Registry. Such request are sent through their telecom service providers which will be stored in National Do Not Call Registry.Subscribers can make a Do Not Call requests via Letter, phone, SMS or on-line.
The telephone number "1909" is designated for registering your request in the National Do Not Call Registry. Registrations can be done either by calling or sending SMS with keywords "START DND" to "1909". Telephone calls/SMSs to this number are FREE of cost. The telecom service provider will acknowledge the request within ten days. Requests will become effective in 45 days from the date of request.
National Informatics Center (NIC) will maintain the NDNC registry.The telemarketers will have to verify their calling telephone numbers list with the NDNC registry before making a call or SMS.For every unsolicited call or SMS to the unsuspecting customer registered with the National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC), telemarketers will be fined Rs 500. They also stand to lose their telephones connections if they make such calls for the third time.

Filing Returns , More Details
Now we can file our returns even at post offices(apart from the Income Tax Offices).As there are decent count of post offices in our country, this makes our life easier.But hold on ,Its not in all post offices.To know the list of post offices access this link Complete List ..

Government has designated 2000 Post Offices for this purpose. To file through a Post Office, Returns may be prepared in duplicate and one copy should be submitted in an unsealed envelope of size 10x12 without folding.
Details of i) PAN, ii) Name of the Taxpayer, iii) Address of the Taxpayer, iv) Assessment Year and v) Ward/Circle where assessed should be written on the envelope. Post Offices will give a duly stamped acknowledgement in the second copy.
Please utilise this oppurtunity.

Its time for all of us to file the tax returns.You all might be aware 31 July is the las date fot filing.But many of us do not know what if we cannot file the tax return before July 31, 2006, we can still file it on or before March 31, 2007. This is called belated return.
The disadvantages of late filing are:
1. If you have any taxes to be paid, then you would be liable to pay penal interest @1% per month under Section 234A
2. If you have incurred any losses (like one does when selling shares at a lower price than when one bought it), you are normally entitled to carry it forward. So over time, you can balance your capital gain with your capital loss. Now you cannot carry forward the losses you incurred this year.
3. If you have any tax refund, it would take more time to process.
If you delay filing of tax return beyond March 31, 2007, the tax department may charge you a penalty up to Rs 5,000.
The tax department can also issue you a notice requiring you to file your tax return. If you still do not file it, the tax officer is entitled to make a Best Judgment Assessment. This means that he can estimate your total income using his own judgement and make you pay taxes on that income.

The International Mobile Equipment Identity (or IMEI) is a 15 digit unique number associated with every GSM and UMTS mobile phone.The IMEI is stored in the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).
IMEI Classifications
The EIR stores three IMEI classifications:
1) White Valid GSM Mobile Stations
2) Grey GSM Mobile Stations to be tracked
3) Black Barred Mobile Stations.
Greylisting will allow the phone to be used, but it can be tracked to see who has it (via the SIM info).
Blacklisting bars the phone from being used on any network where there is an EIR match.
Write it down and if your phone is stolen, then you can report this to the police and they can stop it being resold
The EIR is a unique computer located in the GSM Association headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. It is a global central database containing information on serial number (IMEI) ranges of millions of handsets that have been approved for use on GSM networks.
Operators who deploy a Local Equipment Identity Register (LEIR) in their network use it to keep their own list of blocked lost or stolen phones.Each operator can use a secure Internet connection to share their latest lists of blacklisted handsets with other operators.Every night since 1996, the CEIR has taken all the Black Lists from different operators around the world and added them together into one big Black List. When an EIR connects to the CEIR the following day, it downloads the big Black List for its own use. By loading that big Black List onto the local EIR, all handsets reported as stolen on all other connected networks all over the world up to the previous day are now blocked on that network also.
