Agriculture has been the primary source of income for the majority of Indians for centuries.It has played a key role in the development of Human civilization.With the industrialization and the recent IT revolution in the country,many jobs are created in Towns and Cities.So the talented youngsters are traveling to towns,cities and even to other countries for a better life.As a result the literacy rate has increased, unemployment has come down, average Middle class income has gone up.Great.But who will take care of Agriculture.Their parents,who at present stay in the villages.After them,who?

Of course, a Manager in Oracle,Bangalore cannot come to Gudipala and start cultivation himself.So, its time to think and do smart cultivation,rather than a hardcore approach, which our ancestors have been following for decades and decades.Some of the factors we need to consider are :Type of land,rainfall or availability of water, initial cost,labour etc.,

The Indian Premier League[IPL],stage for 20-20 tournament was created BCCI in 2007 and has been approved by ICC.Basically it has formed eight teams based on the eight cities.Any one can own a team by bidding at the auction.The base price was set as UDS $50m per team for a period of 10 years.The winners of the bid will own these eight teams in the fray. They can run them in their own styles, bring their own sponsors and even name the team according to their choice (in consultation with the IPL forum). In the inaugural year, they will have to buy the players in an auction; subsequently, they will be free to trade the players as is done in various leagues around the world. They will also get a share in the profits, starting from television revenue, gate money and merchandising. They will even be free to list their teams on the stock exchange.

Last Friday when I was travelling to Chittoor , I read an interesting article about the Strand Book Stall.This Book Stall having shops in Mumbai and Bangalore has many unique qualities , and this prompted me in writing this article hoping ,it will be useful to some of us who havent heard about it ,like me.First and the most unique point about this book stall is that was the first bookstall in he world offering a minimum of 20% discount on all of its books.The interesting part of the article was about the founder of this book Stall Sri T.N.Shanbag,aged 81 now,and what prompted him in starting the book stall.In short,T.N.Shanbag was bornin Karnataka,lost his father at very early,His uncle took all their property,...Mumbai..,loves to read books,observed good books are Far fro the reach of ordinary people through some of the experiences in his life.This finally let him to start a small book Stall ,in a Theatre in Mumbai on 20th November ,1948.People used to come to this stall during the interval,his immense knowledge of books attracted the people and soon the stall started gaining popularity.He shifted the shop to a bigger place still keeping the name "Strand book Stall".He always believed that selling books is not just like any other commodity whch are sold just for the sake of profit.In his journey he gave books to many personalities like Nehru,JRD Tata,Homi Bhaba etc.,Now he is the oly book seller who recieved Padmasri from govt and even UNESCO recognised him as the person who encouraged
book reading in India.

Though I have been living in Banglore for the past year and Half , I have never come across this book stall.After knowing its importance now I feel this book stall is worth a visit.And by the way, the Banglore office is being taken care by Vidya , Daughter to T.N Shanbag.

Loksatta

It was Monday morning , I was very much excited when I saw that article on the front page of Eenadu.It says JayaPrakash Narayan lead Loksatta is soon going to start a Political Party. Some of the sentences in the article touched my heart. I got very much disturbed and excited. I am not very happy with the software job I am doing now. I used to believe I should not confine to these kinds of jobs like many. I strongly believe I should use all the knowledge I gained from my experiences and education serve my mother land. For this either I need huge money or I should be in politics. First doesn’t seem to possible in the near future. So the other go is Politics.

The words from the "Charcha Patram" politics are no longer confined to Big shots or criminal people, encouraged me. After 3 days of thinking I finally decided I should be join Loksatta.Today I called Chittoor Zilla Office located in Tirupathi.The voice on the other side promptly received me and I said I will come to the office on Saturday. Other details I got from the 2 minute brief talk with the person is, life term membership costs 20Rs and soon they are going to start branch offices in every place.
From the newspaper info I came to know, Party will be officially started on October 2nd.
My main point in joining the party is "Development should happen in a distributed manner"

My concern "Development should happen in a distributed manner":
We all know villages and towns occupy majority of the population in India. Everyone loves their Birth Places, and likes to lead their life there. But as we grow up we are forced to go to cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad to get a job. But how many of them like to live in those places leaving their homelands.
I observed many of me friends in Bangalore one day or other feel depressed for leaving their homelands. But most of them will not dare to think moving away from Bangalore and settling in home Places.They continue to lead their lives in the same mood.
Now coming to the villages, I observed in many villages, the only people living there are either old people (Who are deserted by their children) or Uneducated youth or people who rich from the grandfathers’ days. If this sort of trend continues many villages will soon wear desert attire.
What is the prime reason behind this...?
Are new jobs not getting created - No
is country not Developing - No
what else ....I feel Development is not happening in a distribute manner. It’s just confining to major cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. If
development happens uniformly, jobs will be created uniformly. Every place will have its own uniqueness which can be used to create employment.
For example coming to my home Town Chittoor, it is a drought area, for the past several years there was no rainfall. Still I believe there are few plus points to this place.
1) Its proximity to two major cities Chennai and Bangalore. We need to woo and attract small scale and medium scale industries to setup here by offering them some special packages.
2) There are several Temples in around Chittoor like Tirumala, Tirupathi, Kanipakam, Sholingar and Tiruttani which are already very famous. Also some more temples

like Mogili Eeswaralyam, NTR Jalasayam, Vepanjaeri, and Deer Park in Chittoor etc should be developed and the local govt/Muncipality should take the responsibility of popularizing them. Thinking how it will generate revenue and employment?
First it will increase the traffic, which will generate revenue to Bus, Auto and Taxi people.
Second Govt can take enough measures to open stalls near Temples or Tourist places where hand made goods or toys can be sold. The job of making these toys

can be given to women residing in some villages.
The local governments should work as a company or an organization for the development of the area by competing with other places.
One point to remember is today’s Bangalore or Hyderabad aren’t that big by birth, they have evolved aver a period of time. Likewise today’s Chittoor can grow to a big city if needed measures are taken. I am not blaming development is not happening or government is not taking enough measures to develop all the places uniformly. What I say is this development can happen at a faster pace. For this to happen the local bodies should also take initiatives to develop their place rather than depending too much on the centralized government.

The idea I expressed here may not be as effective as I have in my mind, but I believe, Distributed development should happen for this nation to become a developed country.
I request you all to express your concerns or comments , so that I can consolidate and take them before Loksatta whenver I get chance to meet them.

Upcoming KempeGowda Terminus

This is how Kempegowda Bus teminus will look by 2009 if everything go by the words of officials.The "Inter Modal Transit Centre" prepared by City based Sundaram Architects is a 700 crore project jointly developed by BMTC and KSRTC.This serves as an integrated terminus for Bus(Under ground) and upcoming Metro rail system.Officials say the vertical tower will house star hotels, an amphitheatre, shopping centers, food courts, browsing centers, rest rooms and other public utilities.
Hope this will complete in time without any objections from the to be foremed JD(S)-BJP govt and will add more colour to Namma Bengaluru.

Banglore will be Bengaluru from on now.What the diff, ofcourese change of few letters in English but as for as people of Kannada and Telugu is concerned I dont feel much difference,because we call it Benguluru in our local languages.
Any way with the new name lets hope the new name will bring more jobs,better Infra structure and even better fame to India.

One Year

The passed October ticked one year not only to my blogging exp but also my professional career. It’s the job I got after 5 months of struggle in job-hunt in Bangalore and Hyderabad and of course 20 years of effort at school and college.
As for my Job is concerned I am bit lucky to get chance to work for 4 MNCs simultaneously, namely Covansys, JDEdwards, PeopleSoft and Oracle. The story behind these is bit long and I want to blog another post to explain how they are related. But from now onwards I will be only for Oracle as JDEdwards and PeopleSoft are no more.
I got chance to experience the best processes followed in each of these companies simultaneously.
At the same time lot many things happened around me in this world during this one year that brought joy, sad and anxious moments. Some of these include Terror brought in by Tsunami, Katrina, Rita;Oracle take over of PeopleSoft; my Blogging hobby; Knowledge I gained at work, bitter experiences I had at work; Tears left by the Earthquake in the Indian Sub-continent; floods in major Indian cities Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai., etc etc...All these left a mark on my life...I want to blog some of the moments I can recollect in the next few weeks.
Blogging: Though my blogging hobby started in October 2004, It actually took off in May 2005.From then onwards I posted close to 65 blogs which I feel is a good count....
Hope I will celebrate many more years further in my life san bad moments that gripped this world and continue to read and understand this world.
